On the weekend of 5-7 May, 35 volunteers went up to Cape Infanta for a weekend of coastal cleanup. Cape Infanta is in the Cape Nature Private Reserve just west of the Breede River, Western Cape, South Africa.
A distance of 8km was cleaned over 2 days and 175 bags of plastic bottles, bags, containers, bottle tops were filled. Hundreds of metres of trawler rope was also collected. Although the cost of Cape Infanta stretches over 20km long, most of the many bays along this coast cannot be accessed due to high cliffs. Two teams went out and cleaned an area which was littered with marine debris.
